What is an uncensored AI app?

An uncensored AI app is a chat application that will discuss adult, dark or uncomfortable subject matter with a consenting adult instead of refusing, redirecting or lecturing. The useful definition is narrow: it is not an app with no rules at all, because no legitimate service operates that way. It is an app whose rules stop at genuine harm rather than at discomfort.

That distinction matters when you are shopping, because most products marketed as uncensored are really products with a slightly later refusal point. You will still hit a wall. The question worth asking is not whether an app claims to be unfiltered, but who wrote the rules it enforces, and whether that party can change them next month without asking anyone.

• Filtered by policy: the company chooses the limits and publishes them.
• Filtered by platform: Apple, Google or a payment processor imposes limits the company would not have chosen.
• Filtered by model: the underlying model refuses regardless of what the product wants.

Can you download an uncensored AI app from the App Store?

Mostly no, and the evidence is easy to check yourself. We searched the US App Store for uncensored ai on August 30, 2026. The six results were No Login AI, Soulplay, Grok AI, EnigmaAI, Venice AI and Superintelligence. Not one of them carries the word uncensored in its name, and every one is rated 17 plus.

The clearest single data point is a rename. The listing at App Store ID 6503295245 was widely written up as Uncensored AI, No Filter Chat. Queried today, that exact ID returns an app called No Login AI, AI Chatbot, from the same publisher, last updated on August 11, 2026. The app is still there. The word is not. A second app that roundups still recommend, Unfiltered AI, returns no result at all in the US storefront.

Read those two facts together and you get the real rule of this market: store listings survive by not saying what they are. Any roundup that tells you to search the App Store for an uncensored AI app is describing a store that stopped existing some time ago.

Why do uncensored AI apps keep getting removed?

Because the vendor does not get to make that decision. SpicyChat publishes the clearest account of this in its own documentation: the iOS app "has been removed from the App Store", Apple "determined that the app does not comply with their guidelines", and after an appeal the company assessed "the chances of reinstatement are very low". That is the platform overruling the product.

Payment processors apply the same pressure one layer down. Chub AI tells its own creators to avoid explicit avatar images with a line worth quoting in full, because "it spooks the payment processors". Neither company is describing a content decision it wanted to make. Both are describing a constraint handed to them by an intermediary their business depends on.

This is why app availability is a genuinely useful buying signal, and a counterintuitive one. An uncensored AI app that sails through App Store review is usually telling you it is not very uncensored. The products that get removed are frequently the ones actually delivering what the category advertises.

What happens to your subscription when an app gets removed?

You lose the billing relationship and usually have to pay again somewhere else. SpicyChat documents exactly this outcome for its own customers: subscriptions bought through the iOS app "will only remain active until their next scheduled renewal date", they "will no longer automatically renew", and affected users "will need to re-subscribe on our website". Accounts and chat history survived the removal. The payment arrangement did not.

This is the part almost no comparison article covers, and it is the part that costs you money. When you subscribe inside an app store, the store owns the billing relationship, so a delisting breaks it. When you subscribe on a website, the vendor owns it, and a store decision cannot touch it.

It is worth checking where a payment actually goes before you make it. If your receipt comes from Apple or Google rather than from the company you are buying from, your subscription is only as durable as the standing that company has with the store.

Is it safe to install an AI chat app from an APK?

Sideloading an APK is safe in proportion to how well you can verify the source, and most people cannot verify it well. SpicyChat distributes its official Android build as a direct download from its own website rather than through Google Play, and states plainly that Android will show a security warning because the app is installed from outside the Play Store, which it describes as normal in that situation.

The real risk is not the mechanism, it is the lookalike. Our App Store search turned up three separate apps trading on the SpicyChat name from unrelated publishers, none of them the company. The same pattern appears in APK mirrors, where the file you download is often not the build the vendor shipped. If you sideload, take the file from the vendor domain you already trust and nowhere else.

The alternative most people overlook is that you do not need to install anything. Every platform discussed here runs in a mobile browser, and both iOS and Android will pin a website to the home screen where it opens full screen without a browser bar. SpicyChat now recommends this route to its own iPhone users.

Do you actually need an app at all?

For a chat product, honestly, not really. Chat is text and voice over a connection, which is exactly what a browser does well. What you give up by going without an app is a home screen icon and push notifications. What you gain is that nobody can take the product away from you, and your subscription cannot be broken by a decision made in a review queue.

We build this way deliberately, and it is a real tradeoff rather than a free win. There is no Depravity app, and there will not be one. Several competitors in the table above have a genuine first-party iPhone app and we do not. If a home screen icon delivered by an app store matters to you more than anything else, one of them is the better purchase.

What we get in exchange is that our rules are ours. We are not one policy update away from removing a feature our customers pay for, because no store is in a position to require it.

What does an uncensored AI app cost?

Pricing in this category is unusually hard to compare, because several of the best-known platforms do not publish numbers at all. SpicyChat documents three tiers by name and by feature, including the context memory each one buys, and never states a dollar figure anywhere in that documentation. Character.AI and Kindroid both returned a 404 on their pricing pages when we last checked them.

There is no free tier. That is a deliberate choice and it is the main reason a certain kind of visitor should leave this page: if you want a free uncensored AI app, we are not it, and Character.AI is free while remaining strictly filtered. What paying buys here is a product with no advertising, no data resale and no third party setting the content rules.

What an uncensored AI app should still refuse

Uncensored is not the same as lawless, and any vendor that will not tell you where its limits sit is either being careless or being evasive. Ours are short and we do not move them: nothing involving minors, nothing involving non-consent, and nothing that furthers illegal activity. Those are hard lines, they apply to every account, and no subscription tier removes them.

We are equally direct about what enforcing that requires. Our privacy policy discloses both automated and human review for the purpose of enforcing those lines. Your chats are never sold, never shared, and never used to train advertising, and you can export or delete them. We would rather state that plainly than imply a level of privacy that no service which enforces any rule at all can truthfully offer.

That combination, narrow published limits and honest disclosure about how they are enforced, is a more useful thing to shop for than the word uncensored on a store listing. As of August 30, 2026, that word does not survive on a store listing anyway.
