Short answer
There is no uncensored version of ChatGPT, and ChatGPT does not allow NSFW content. OpenAI announced in October 2025 that it would allow adult content for verified adults, missed a December 2025 target, and then reportedly paused the project indefinitely on March 26, 2026. As of July 2026 it has still not shipped. Jailbreak prompts are not a fix either: they break with every model update, and the conversation still runs on OpenAI infrastructure that trains on consumer chats by default. If you want candid adult conversation without refusals, the practical answer is a product built without the filter rather than a trick to disable one. Depravity is an uncensored ChatGPT alternative for US adults 18 and over, private by default, from $15 a month.
Last updated July 2026
It is candid, fast, and entirely private. Depravity answers the question you actually asked, then leaves the judgment out of it. Uncensored means no corporate filters, not no rules, so the hard lines around anything illegal stay firmly in place.

Honest comparison
ChatGPT compared with Depravity, honestly
| ChatGPT | Depravity | |
|---|---|---|
| Candid adult conversation | Filtered. Adult mode announced October 2025, still not shipped as of July 2026. | Permitted within firm legal and ethical lines |
| Refusals on ordinary adult topics | Common, and it often refuses fiction, medical and legal questions too | No corporate content gate |
| What happens to your chats | Used to train the model by default on consumer plans. An opt-out exists in settings. | Never sold, never shared, never used to train advertising. Encrypted, and yours to export or delete anytime. |
| Deleted means deleted | A May 2025 court order forced OpenAI to preserve even deleted chats until it was terminated on October 9, 2025 | Delete a chat and it is gone |
| General-purpose work (code, research, spreadsheets) | Far better. This is what it is built for. | Not the point. It is built for conversation. |
| Free plan | Yes | No free plan, live demo instead |
| Price | Free tier, Plus from $20 a month | From $15 a month, or $12 a month billed yearly |
Sourced from OpenAI's own announcements, help documentation and pricing page, checked July 2026. To be clear about where ChatGPT wins: it is a much stronger general assistant, it has a free tier, and for anything involving code, research or analysis you should use it, not us.
Is there an uncensored version of ChatGPT?
No. There is no official uncensored ChatGPT, and there is no setting that turns the filter off. OpenAI said in October 2025 that it planned to let verified adults access adult content, and that widely reported plan is why so many articles talk about it as though it already exists. As of July 2026 it has not shipped. That is worth stating precisely: it was announced and delayed, not cancelled, so it may still arrive.
Everything else marketed as an "uncensored ChatGPT" falls into one of three buckets. Some are jailbreak prompts, which are not versions of anything. Some are wrappers that call the OpenAI API, which means they inherit the exact same usage policies and get the same refusals. A few are entirely different models with a ChatGPT-looking interface, which are honest products with dishonest branding. None of them is a real uncensored ChatGPT.
Does ChatGPT allow NSFW content?
No. ChatGPT blocks NSFW content for every user, on every plan, including paying subscribers. Sexually explicit material sits squarely inside the usage policies the moderation layer enforces, and asking for it produces a refusal rather than a warning you can dismiss. This is true today regardless of your age, your country, or how much you pay, and it is a deliberate product decision rather than an oversight OpenAI has not gotten around to.
The reason so many articles imply otherwise is the adult mode saga. Sam Altman said in October 2025 that verified adults would be able to access erotica and mature creative writing. A December 2025 rollout target came and went. In March 2026 the plan was reportedly paused indefinitely, with safety concerns about age verification misclassifying minors cited as the reason, and there has been no new timeline since. So the accurate statement in July 2026 is that NSFW on ChatGPT was announced, delayed, and then shelved without a date, not that it is coming soon.
That leaves anyone searching for an NSFW ChatGPT with two real options: keep fighting a filter that is designed not to lose, or use a product that was built without one. A jailbreak that works this week is not a solution, because the thing you are relying on is an unpatched gap that OpenAI is actively closing. If the conversation matters to you, an alternative built for candid adult conversation from the start will be steadier than any prompt trick.
How do you turn off the ChatGPT filter?
You cannot. The filter is not a toggle in settings; it is a mix of training and a separate moderation layer that reads the conversation. There is no account tier, hidden flag, or support request that removes it. Anyone selling you a method is selling you a jailbreak prompt.
Jailbreaks do sometimes work for a while, which is exactly what makes them a bad foundation. They break on every model update, they degrade the quality of the answers because you are spending the model's attention on a roleplay frame instead of your actual question, and repeatedly pushing against the usage policies is a good way to lose the account you are paying for. If you want an unfiltered conversation, wrestling with the filtered product is the hardest available route.
Why does ChatGPT refuse so much?
Because the cost of a wrong answer is wildly asymmetric for OpenAI. A refusal that annoys you costs them almost nothing. One bad answer that ends up in a news story costs them a great deal. Any system tuned under those incentives will over-refuse, and it does.
That is why the refusals feel so scattershot. The filter is judging where a conversation might be heading, not just what you asked, so it catches fiction with dark themes, medical questions, legal questions, security research and plenty of ordinary adult conversation. It is not that ChatGPT thinks your question is bad. It is that the system is built to decline anything ambiguous, and most real conversation is ambiguous.
What should you look for in an uncensored ChatGPT alternative?
The word "uncensored" is doing a lot of unearned work in this market. Four questions separate a real alternative from a reskin, and the last one catches most of them.
- Is it actually a different model, or a wrapper around the OpenAI API that inherits the same usage policies and the same refusals?
- Does the filter genuinely stay out of the way, or does it just trigger a little later than ChatGPT does?
- What happens to your chats. An unfiltered product that trains on your conversations has traded one problem for a worse one.
- Is it honest about its limits. Any tool claiming zero rules is either lying or running something you should not be near. Real products have hard lines and say so.
Is ChatGPT private?
Less than most people assume. OpenAI trains on consumer chats by default, and while you can opt out in settings, the default is what nearly everyone actually uses. Business and enterprise tiers are treated differently.
The sharper lesson came from the New York Times litigation. In May 2025 a magistrate judge ordered OpenAI to preserve output logs it would otherwise have deleted, including chats users had already deleted. That obligation ran until it ended on September 26, 2025 and was formally terminated on October 9, 2025. For roughly four months, deleted did not mean deleted, and no user could have known that from the interface. The point is not that OpenAI behaved badly here; it complied with a court order. The point is that your chats live somewhere that can be reached, and privacy policies can be overridden by events outside the company's control.
