Gemini NSFW and Gemini Adult Content, What Google Allows and What Adults Use Instead

Most of what ranks for Gemini NSFW is YouTube videos promising a hidden mode and forum threads arguing about AI Studio sliders. Neither tells you what Google has actually written down, and Google has written down a lot.

Short answer

Gemini does not allow NSFW content. The Gemini app guidelines list "Pornography or erotic content" as something Gemini should not generate, and Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy bans "content created for the purpose of pornography or sexual gratification" across its AI products. The Gemini API safety filter is off by default for Gemini 2.5 and 3 models, but the policy still applies there and Google says its automated systems scan API use for sexually explicit content. A Google AI Pro or Ultra plan raises usage limits and changes none of this. For adult conversation that is allowed in writing, Depravity costs $15 a month or $12 billed yearly.

The short version is odd enough to be worth reading slowly. In the Gemini API the adjustable safety filter really is off by default for Gemini 2.5 and 3 models. Sexually explicit content is still banned by the policy that governs the same API, and Google says its automated systems scan for exactly that. Below is what each document says, what it means for a paying adult, and where we are the better fit (and where Gemini is).

What makes it feel honest

Gemini NSFW, the way it should feel

No policy behind the switch

Gemini lets developers turn a filter off while a separate policy still bans the content. Here the rules and the product say the same thing.

Nothing to get banned for

Adult conversation between consenting adults is what this product is for. There is no enforcement team hunting for it and no Google account riding on it.

Three lines, printed

Nothing involving minors, nothing non-consensual, nothing illegal. That is the whole list, in plain words, on every page.

Does Gemini allow NSFW content?

No. The Gemini app guidelines have a heading for it, and the rule under that heading says Gemini should not generate outputs that "describe or depict explicit or graphic sexual acts or sexual violence, or sexual body parts in an explicit manner." The first example Google lists is "Pornography or erotic content."

Google does leave room for context. The same page says it weighs "educational, documentary, artistic, or scientific applications" when judging an output, which is why Gemini will discuss sex education, a novel's themes or a medical question. That exception covers talking about sex. It does not cover writing a scene for you.

The guidelines also admit the model sometimes gets it wrong, noting that Gemini "may sometimes produce content that violates our guidelines." That line is where a lot of the "Gemini NSFW works" videos come from. A slip is not a setting, and it is not something you can build a habit on.

Can you turn off the Gemini NSFW filter in AI Studio?

You can turn off the filter. You cannot turn off the rule, and the difference matters. The Gemini API documentation lists four adjustable categories, harassment, hate speech, sexually explicit and dangerous, and says that for Gemini 2.5 and 3 models the default block threshold is Off. Google AI Studio exposes the same setting, and the API accepts BLOCK_NONE.

The policy that governs the API is a separate document, and it has not moved. The Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy, which the Gemini API usage policy tells every developer they agree to, says not to generate "Sexually explicit content, for example, content created for the purpose of pornography or sexual gratification." It also bans "Circumvention of abuse protections or safety filters."

So the switch exists for developers whose legitimate content trips a classifier, a medical app or a crime novel with a violent chapter. It was never a permission slip for erotica, and some protections, such as those against content that endangers child safety, the docs say "are always blocked and cannot be adjusted."

Can you get banned from Gemini for NSFW?

Google describes the enforcement ladder in writing, and sexual content is named in it. The Gemini API usage policy says automated systems scan API usage for violations "such as hate speech, harassment, sexually explicit content, and dangerous content," and that a project with consistently suspicious activity "may be flagged for manual review by authorized Google personnel."

For that purpose Google keeps your prompts, any context you send and the model's outputs for 55 days. The steps it lists run from contacting you, to temporary usage limits or routing your request to a different model, to temporary suspension. The last one is the reason to take this seriously: "As a last resort, and for serious violations, we may permanently close your access to the Gemini API and other Google services."

For most people their Google account is their email, their photos and their phone. Risking that for a chat is a bad trade, especially when products exist that allow the same conversation outright.

We compared how long the big assistants keep your chats, Gemini included, in how long AI companies keep your chats.

Does Google AI Pro or Ultra unlock adult content?

No. On September 28, 2026 the US subscriptions page listed Google AI Plus at $4.99 a month, AI Pro at $19.99 and AI Ultra from $99.99, with a $199.99 option for 20 times the usage of Pro. Every tier is described by what it adds, starting with higher usage limits and access to newer features. None of them mentions content rules, because the guidelines and the Prohibited Use Policy apply to every tier the same way.

That is the same answer OpenAI and Anthropic give for their paid plans. A subscription buys capacity. It does not buy an exception.

The ChatGPT version of this question, down to the exact authority level of the rule, is on our ChatGPT NSFW page, and Anthropic's rules are quoted in Claude NSFW. DeepSeek goes further than either and names "sexual chatbots" as a banned use, which we quote on our DeepSeek NSFW page. Mistral sits at the other end and never bans adult erotica by name, as our Mistral NSFW page shows.

What Gemini still does better than we do

Quite a lot, and you should know before you pay anyone. Gemini searches the web, reads your Gmail and Docs if you let it, writes code, generates images, video and music, handles long documents and has a genuinely useful free tier. We do none of that.

We do one thing: private adult conversation with a companion who remembers you, with no filter layered over it. If you want both, keep Gemini for work and use something built for the conversation Gemini will not have.

How Depravity works as a Gemini alternative for adults

You open a chat and talk. There is nothing to configure first, and every plan is unlimited chat.

  • Adult from the first message. Accounts are 18 and over and our rules allow explicit content between consenting adults, so there is no slider, no jailbreak and no workaround to go looking for.
  • Written limits you can read. Nothing involving minors, nothing non-consensual, nothing illegal. That is the complete list.
  • Private by default. Chats are encrypted, never sold, never shared and never used to train advertising, and you can export or delete them.
  • A companion, not an assistant. The character keeps its voice and remembers names and history across sessions.

Plans and yearly prices are on pricing. For a ranked comparison of the adult options, see best uncensored AI chatbots.

Which option should you pick?

Match it to what you actually want from the conversation. We would rather send you elsewhere than sell you the wrong thing.

  • You want research, email, documents or images: stay on Gemini. Nothing here competes with it on that.
  • You are a developer building a legitimate product that keeps tripping the classifier: use the API safety settings as Google intends, within the Prohibited Use Policy.
  • You want long adult fiction written as prose, with a manuscript view: a dedicated writing tool will serve you better than a chat.
  • You want an adult conversation or roleplay with a character, allowed in writing and with no account at risk: Depravity, from $12 a month billed yearly.

Good to know

Questions about your gemini nsfw

No. The Gemini app guidelines say Gemini should not generate explicit sexual content and list "Pornography or erotic content" as the first example. Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy bans sexually explicit content made "for the purpose of pornography or sexual gratification" across its AI products, including the Gemini API.
No. There is no adult mode or setting in the Gemini app. The only switch that exists is the safety filter in the Gemini API and Google AI Studio, which developers can set to Off, and it is already Off by default for Gemini 2.5 and 3 models. The Prohibited Use Policy still applies when it is off.
You can lose access. Google says it scans Gemini API use for sexually explicit content, keeps prompts and outputs for 55 days for abuse monitoring, and may apply usage limits, suspend access or, as a last resort for serious violations, permanently close access to the Gemini API and other Google services.
No. Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra raise usage limits and add models and features. They do not change the content rules, which apply to every tier. On September 28, 2026 the US prices were $4.99, $19.99 and from $99.99 a month.
In the API, slightly, because its safety filter is off by default. In policy, no. All three ban sexually explicit content in their consumer apps: Google in its guidelines and Prohibited Use Policy, OpenAI in its Model Spec, and Anthropic in a Usage Policy section that includes "Engage in erotic chats."
One that allows adult content in its own rules rather than by accident. Depravity is an uncensored AI chat for adults 18 and over: explicit content between consenting adults is allowed, chat is unlimited on every plan, and it costs $15 a month or $12 billed yearly. Gemini remains better for research, documents and images.
Three, printed on every page: nothing involving minors, nothing involving non-consent, nothing illegal. Those do not move for any plan or any prompt. Everything else between consenting adults is allowed.
