DeepSeek NSFW, what DeepSeek's terms allow and what adults use instead
Most of what ranks for DeepSeek NSFW is jailbreak videos, Hugging Face model cards and guides promising the one prompt that works. Almost none of it quotes DeepSeek, and DeepSeek is unusually direct about this in writing.

Short answer
DeepSeek does not allow NSFW content, and it says so in its own Terms of Use (last updated March 27, 2026): you may not use the service to generate content that "is pornographic, obscene, or sexually explicit (e.g., sexual chatbots)". The rule covers the API as well as the chat app, because DeepSeek's Open Platform terms require developers to make end users follow the Terms of Use, and the API returns a "content_filter" stop reason when output is flagged. DeepSeek reserves the right to review user behavior, restrict or close accounts without prior notice, and its terms are governed by the law of mainland China, where it stores user data. The open weights are MIT licensed and run on your own hardware outside those terms, which is a real option if you have the GPUs. For adults who want an explicit conversation that is allowed in writing, Depravity is an uncensored AI chat for US adults 18 and over, from $12 a month billed yearly.
Its Terms of Use, last updated March 27, 2026, list content you may not use the service to generate, and one line reads "pornographic, obscene, or sexually explicit (e.g., sexual chatbots)". The same terms cover the API, and DeepSeek's Open Platform terms make developers responsible for making their end users follow them too. That second part is the one that matters if you reach DeepSeek through a roleplay frontend rather than the chat app, because the rule does not stop at the app.
What makes it feel honest
DeepSeek NSFW, the way it should feel
Allowed in writing
DeepSeek names "sexual chatbots" as a banned use. Our rules allow explicit content between consenting adults, so there is nothing to sneak past.
US company, US adults
DeepSeek's terms are governed by the law of mainland China and its data is stored there. We serve US adults 18 and over under US terms.
Three lines, printed
Nothing involving minors, nothing non-consensual, nothing illegal. That is the whole list, on every page, for every plan.
Honest comparison
Adult content rules in DeepSeek and three alternatives, from each vendor's own pages
| Product | US price as listed | What the rules say about sexual content | Enforcement the vendor describes | Where your chats are governed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DeepSeek chat app | Free. The US App Store lists it at no charge (rated 12+) and we found no paid consumer tier | Terms of Use 3.4 bans content that "is pornographic, obscene, or sexually explicit (e.g., sexual chatbots)" | Warnings, restricted functions, suspension, account closure and a ban on re-registering (Terms 8.2); "risk filtering mechanisms" to review user behavior (3.3) | Data stored in the People's Republic of China; terms governed by mainland Chinese law, disputes in Hangzhou |
| DeepSeek API | Prepaid. deepseek-flash $0.30 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output tokens at peak, half that off-peak | Open Platform terms 3.1: developers must make "end users comply with the requirements of the DeepSeek Terms of Use", so the same ban applies | Server-side content filter ("content_filter" stop reason), suspension or account closure "without the need for prior notification" (7.2) | Same as the app: mainland Chinese law |
| Gemini API | Pay per use at API rates | Prohibited Use Policy bans content "created for the purpose of pornography or sexual gratification" | The adjustable filter is Off by default for Gemini 2.5 and 3, but prompts are kept 55 days and scanned; limits, suspension or loss of access | Google, US |
| Claude (Anthropic) | Free. Pro $20 a month or $17 billed yearly | Usage Policy: "Do Not Generate Sexually Explicit Content", including "Engage in erotic chats", also via resellers and passthrough access | Refusal, then throttling, suspension or termination | Anthropic, US |
| Depravity | Open $15 a month or $12 billed yearly. Unfiltered $29 or $24. Boundless $59 or $49 | Explicit content between consenting adults is allowed. Hard lines: minors, non-consent, anything illegal | The three hard lines are enforced by automated and human review. Nothing else is filtered | US adults 18 and over; chats encrypted, never sold, never shared |

Does DeepSeek allow NSFW content?
No. Section 3.4 of the DeepSeek Terms of Use lists what you may not use the service to generate, "content or a chatbot" that falls into any of several categories. Item five is content that "is pornographic, obscene, or sexually explicit (e.g., sexual chatbots)". Item one adds anything "vulgar". There is no adult exception, no age-verified tier and no setting that changes it.
The "e.g., sexual chatbots" part is worth reading twice. Plenty of vendors ban explicit content in general terms and leave companion roleplay in a gray zone. DeepSeek names the exact use case people are searching for and puts it on the banned list.
Why do so many people say DeepSeek NSFW works anyway? Because a filter that sometimes misses is not a permission. Guides and videos describe outputs that slipped through, usually after a long roleplay setup. That is a gap in enforcement, not a policy, and DeepSeek's terms reserve the right to act on it.
Does the DeepSeek API allow NSFW roleplay?
This is the question most DeepSeek NSFW searches are really asking, because a lot of adult roleplay runs on DeepSeek models through frontends and proxies rather than the chat app. The answer is still no, and DeepSeek closes the gap in two documents.
First, the Terms of Use define the services as including "application programming interfaces (APIs)". Second, the Open Platform Terms of Service, effective April 29, 2026, say developers must ensure that "both of you and your end users comply with the requirements of the DeepSeek Terms of Use (especially regarding user conduct norms)", and describe it as "your duty to regulate and manage the usage behavior of end users." The sexual content ban travels with the model into every app built on the official API.
The API reference also shows filtering on the server side. A response can end with the stop reason content_filter, which DeepSeek defines as output "omitted due to a flag from our content filters", and an optional user_id field exists, in DeepSeek's words, to "help us with content safety review." There is no parameter to switch that filter off. Gemini at least gives developers a slider; DeepSeek gives none.
If you route roleplay through a frontend, the same question for the frontend side is covered in does Janitor AI need a proxy, and the Gemini API version of this answer is on our Gemini NSFW page.
Can you get banned from DeepSeek for NSFW?
DeepSeek describes the consequences in writing. Section 8.2 of the Terms of Use reserves the right to "independently judge and take measures against you," including "issuing warnings, setting deadlines for correction, restricting account functions, suspending usage, closing accounts, prohibiting re-registration, deleting relevant content." The Open Platform terms add that for API accounts this can happen "without the need for prior notification."
Section 3.3 explains how it finds violations: DeepSeek "has the right to use technical means to review the behavior of users," including "establishing risk filtering mechanisms." For API users the practical risk is a prepaid balance sitting in an account DeepSeek can lock. We could not find a DeepSeek statement promising a refund of that balance after a closure for a conduct violation.
Is DeepSeek private enough for adult conversations?
That depends on how comfortable you are with where the data goes. DeepSeek's privacy policy, last updated February 10, 2026, says it will "directly collect, process and store your Personal Data in People's Republic of China," and lists "chat history" among what it collects. The Terms of Use are governed by the laws of mainland China, with disputes heard by a court near DeepSeek's registered office in Hangzhou.
Your chats can be used to train its models unless you turn off the setting DeepSeek calls "Improve the model for everyone." Data is kept "for as long as you have an account," and longer if DeepSeek decides you violated its terms. The policy also says its service is "not designed or intended to process sensitive Personal Data," naming sexuality among the examples, and that "you should not provide" it. For an adult conversation, that sentence is the policy telling you this is the wrong place.
Several US states, including Texas, New York and Virginia, banned DeepSeek on state government devices in early 2025. Those bans do not apply to your personal phone, but they tell you how US security officials read the same privacy policy.

What about running DeepSeek locally?
This is the one route where DeepSeek genuinely wins, and we will say so plainly. DeepSeek publishes its model weights, and the current releases on Hugging Face are MIT licensed. The Terms of Use govern DeepSeek's services, meaning its app, website and API. They do not reach a copy of the weights running on your own machine, and community fine-tunes built for roleplay exist for exactly that reason.
The catch is hardware and time. The full models need far more GPU memory than a gaming PC has, so most people run small distilled versions that are noticeably weaker, or rent cloud GPUs and manage the setup themselves. If you enjoy that and have the hardware, it is a legitimate choice. If you want to open a chat and talk tonight, it is a weekend project.
What DeepSeek does better than we do
A lot, and you should know it before paying anyone. DeepSeek is free in the app, cheap per token in the API, strong at reasoning, math and code, handles very long documents, and ships open weights anyone can study. We do none of those things.
We do one thing: private adult conversation with a companion who remembers you, with explicit content allowed in our own rules. If you want both, keep DeepSeek for work and use something built for the conversation its terms forbid.
How Depravity works as a DeepSeek alternative for adults
You open a chat and talk. There is no proxy to configure, no prompt preset to paste and no token balance to watch, and every plan is unlimited chat.
- Adult from the first message. Accounts are 18 and over and our rules allow explicit content between consenting adults, so there is nothing to jailbreak.
- Written limits you can read. Nothing involving minors, nothing non-consensual, nothing illegal. That is the complete list.
- Private by default. Chats are encrypted, never sold, never shared and never used to train advertising, and you can export or delete them. We use automated and human review to enforce the three hard lines, and we say so.
- A companion, not an assistant. The character keeps its voice and remembers names and history across sessions.
Plans and yearly prices are on pricing. For a ranked comparison of the adult options, see best uncensored AI chatbots.
Which option should you pick?
Match it to what you actually want. We would rather point you elsewhere than sell you the wrong thing.
- You want reasoning, coding or cheap API tokens for work: stay on DeepSeek. Nothing here competes with it on that.
- You have serious GPUs and like tinkering: run the open weights locally, where DeepSeek's service terms do not apply.
- You want long adult fiction written as prose with a manuscript view: a dedicated writing tool will serve you better than a chat.
- You want an adult conversation or roleplay with a character, allowed in writing, with no account or balance at risk: Depravity, from $12 a month billed yearly.
Writing prose rather than chatting? Our AI smut writer page compares the tools built for manuscripts. Coming from ChatGPT instead? See ChatGPT NSFW, and for Claude, Claude NSFW. Mistral's policy is the outlier, with no ban on adult erotica by name; see Mistral NSFW.
