Museland AI alternative now that Museland has gone offline
If you are looking for a Museland AI alternative, you already know the site stopped working. It did not come back. On October 24, 2026 museland.ai, www.museland.ai and app.museland.ai all returned no address, so no browser or app anywhere can reach a server behind them. "Museland ai coming back" still sits in Google autocomplete, and a petition to reinstate it was opened in September 2026. Nothing on the domain suggests a return.

Short answer
Museland AI is offline. On October 24, 2026 museland.ai had no address record, and the Internet Archive shows its homepage replaced by a server error page on April 9, 2025, after a last working capture on March 23, 2025. There is no Museland app in the US App Store. Its terms let it "discontinue the Services" at any time "with or without notice", and they say ending your access "will not terminate" its rights to your content. Stories that lived only on Museland servers cannot be recovered. If you want a paid uncensored roleplay companion that is still running, Depravity is AI chat for US adults 18 and over at $15 a month, or $12 a month billed yearly, with unlimited messages and chats you can export.
We rebuilt what Museland promised from its own pages in the Internet Archive: the homepage captured March 23, 2025, the error page that replaced it on April 9, 2025, the terms of use last updated March 7, 2024 and the privacy policy marked March 7, 2025. Below is what those documents allowed, what happened, and how to choose a replacement that will not vanish on you the same way.
What makes it feel honest
Museland AI alternative, the way it should feel
A paid product with a reason to stay
We publish our prices in dollars and our paying members fund the servers. Museland never published a price on its website, and it closed without a notice we could find.
Your stories leave with you
Every conversation can be exported or deleted from your account at any time, so the scenes you wrote do not depend on one company keeping its domain alive.
Adults only, in every document
Our terms, privacy policy and sign-up all say the same thing: 18 and over. There is no teen mode running inside the same product.
Honest comparison
What Museland's own documents allowed, and what happened, checked October 24, 2026
| Museland source | What it says or shows | What it meant for users |
|---|---|---|
| DNS for museland.ai, www and app | Nameservers are still delegated, but none of the three hostnames returns an address. | The name is held and nothing is served from it. This is not a busy evening or a crash. |
| Domain registration (whois) | Created May 20, 2023, registered until May 20, 2027. | Someone still pays for the name. That is not a sign the service is returning. |
| Homepage, March 23, 2025 | Last working capture. Title "Human-Like Interactions, Redefining AI Role-Play Experiences", with fandom shelves and an "OPEN APP" button. | The service looked normal about two weeks before it stopped. |
| Homepage, April 9, 2025 | A generic server error page marked noindex, with no message to users. | No shutdown notice, export window or refund note appears in any capture we found. |
| Terms of use, March 7, 2024 | "We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Services, or any part of them, at any time, with or without notice." | Closing without warning was allowed by the contract you accepted. |
| Terms of use, termination clause | "Termination of your account or access to any component of the Services will not terminate Muser AI's rights to your User Content." | Losing access did not end the license on what you wrote. |
| Terms of use, content license | A "royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable" license to "use, copy, store, display, modify, transmit, sell, exploit" what you submit. | Your characters and scenes stay licensed to the company, wherever its assets end up. |
| Age rules across two documents | Terms: "residents of the United States over the age of 17". Privacy policy: "intended for users who are 13 years of age or older", with a "Youth Mode" for ages 13 to 17. | The two documents never agreed on who the product was for. |
Did Museland AI shut down?
Yes, as far as anything public can show. The last capture of a working Museland homepage in the Internet Archive is March 23, 2025. On April 9, 2025 the same address served a generic error page with a noindex tag. Today the domain has no address record for the main site, the www host or the app host.
Some review sites say Museland closed in March 2025 for financial and operational reasons. We could not find that statement on any Museland page, its archived homepage or its terms, so we do not repeat it as fact. What we can show is the timing: a normal homepage, then an error page, then nothing.
A petition titled "Reinstate Museland AI" was opened on September 26, 2026. It describes the service as "suddenly taken offline" and, when we read it, had one signature. If you have been waiting for Museland to return, the record so far gives no reason to keep waiting.
Other roleplay services ended the same way. See Dittin AI alternative and Charstar AI alternative, and our check on whether Figgs AI shut down.
What Museland AI was
Museland described itself as AI role-play where "AI stories and episodes are interactive and visualized". Its homepage was organized into fandom and trope shelves such as Jujutsu Kaisen, MHA, Harry Potter, Demon Slayer, Crush, Bodyguard, Roommate and Mafia Boss, with a "Chat Now" button on each character and an "OPEN APP" button in the header. Users could build their own characters, which Museland called Musers, and publish story episodes.
It was run by Zulution Intelligence Pte. Ltd., a company registered in Singapore, under terms that send disputes to JAMS arbitration in San Francisco and apply California law. The terms call the service "Muser AI" in places and the website "Museland" in others.
The privacy policy says paid features were sold as "Subscriptions" through payment partners, and the fields it lists (bundle ID, purchase token, package name) are the ones app stores use for in-app purchases. We found no price on any archived Museland web page.
What Museland's terms let it do with your stories
Two clauses in the terms of use explain why a shutdown like this leaves users with nothing to fall back on.
The first is the discontinuation clause, which lets the company "modify or discontinue the Services, or any part of them, at any time, with or without notice", and says it "will not be liable to you or to any third party" for doing so. A later clause repeats that Museland may suspend accounts and "remove and discard any Content within the Services, for any reason, including, without limitation, for lack of use".
The second is the license. Anything you submitted came with a "royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable, non-exclusive, unrestricted, worldwide license" that included the rights to "sell" and "exploit" it. The termination clause adds that ending your access "will not terminate Muser AI's rights to your User Content". So the company could stop the service, keep the license, and owe no notice.
None of this is unusual for the category, and none of it proves anything was done with your stories after the site closed. It does mean the only copy you can count on is one you made yourself.
We compared how other apps handle this in does deleting AI chats actually delete them and how long AI companies keep your chats.
Who Museland was really built for
This is the part most "alternatives" lists skip. Museland's terms say the service is "intended for use only by residents of the United States over the age of 17". Its privacy policy says the service is "intended for users who are 13 years of age or older" and that "for individuals aged 13 to under 18, our Services provide a designated Youth Mode".
So the same product told adults it was for over 17s and told regulators it served teenagers with a separate mode. Neither document mentions sexual content at all. If you went to Museland for adult roleplay, you were using a product whose own paperwork never promised it, and whose audience included 13 year olds.
An adult roleplay service should be adults only in every document and at sign-up. Ours is: 18 and over in the terms, the privacy policy and the account flow, with three published hard lines covering minors, non-consent and anything illegal.
For how other platforms handle age, see adult AI chat and Character AI age verification.
Can you get your Museland chats back?
Almost certainly not. The privacy policy lists "chat communications" among the data it collected, which means your stories were stored on Museland's servers, not on your phone. With no server answering, there is no login, no export button and no support address that responds on the domain.
The privacy policy does describe deletion and "right to know" requests for California and several other states, sent by email. The company that ran Museland may still exist, so a written request costs nothing. We would not expect a copy of your chats back.
If you saved character descriptions or opening scenes elsewhere, those are what you can rebuild from. Paste them into a new companion and most of a long-running character comes back within a few messages.
Long memory matters for that rebuild. We compared it in AI chatbot with long-term memory.
Is there a Museland AI app?
Not in the US App Store. A search for "museland" on October 24, 2026 returned Saylo, Character AI, SoulHi, Soulplay and other roleplay apps, and nothing from Museland's developer.
If you find an APK or a store listing using the Museland name now, it is not the original service. It would be someone else's app under someone else's terms and billing, and installing APKs from outside a store carries its own risk.
We check which listings in this category are genuine in uncensored AI apps, real or lookalike.
Museland AI alternatives compared
Museland mixed three things: a library of fandom characters other people made, episode style stories, and private chat with a character you built. The right replacement depends on which part you paid for.
If it was the community library of anime and fandom characters, a large library service is the closer fit. If it was the visual episodes, look at story apps. If it was one ongoing roleplay with a character who remembered you, that is the part we replace, for adults, without a filter and with memory that carries across sessions.

What Museland did better than we do
Museland had something we do not: a large public library of fandom characters and story episodes made by its users, organized by series and trope. Browsing that shelf was a big part of its appeal, and we do not run a community library or generate images.
It also had a mobile app button on the homepage. Depravity runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer, with no app to install.
Where we differ is durability and clarity. Our prices are published in dollars, our members pay for the service, the adult rule is written down in every document, and your chats can be exported at any time.
Which option fits you
Choose by what you used Museland for.
- You browsed fandom characters other people made. Pick a large community library service.
- You followed visual story episodes. Pick a story or visual novel app; we are text and voice only.
- You want adult roleplay with one character who remembers you, no filter, unlimited messages and chats you can export. That is Depravity, from $12 a month billed yearly.
- Whatever you pick, export your chats regularly. Museland showed how quickly a service can disappear.
Current prices are on the pricing page, and the wider field is in best AI for roleplay and AI roleplay chat.
